Anthony Martial has been named Premier League player of the month, despite Juan Mata winning the September award at Manchester United.
This comes just 43 days after he completed a £36m move from Monaco in a record transfer for a teenager, potentially rising to £58m, on the final day of the transfer window.
Martial scored on his debut in the 3-1 victory over Liverpool on September 12 and then added a brace in a 3-2 away win at Southampton on September 20.
The France international grabbed another in the Capital One Cup win over Ipswich three days later.
It is the first time a United player has clinched Player of the Month since Robin van Persie in April 2013.
However, Mata was the club’s player of the month after starting all six games, scoring against Southampton, Sunderland and Wolfsburg and claiming three assists.
However, the French teenager also scooped the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month prize for September.
Martial becomes just the ninth player to secure the award in his first full month in the Premier League, joining Jurgen Klinsman, David Ginola, Jose Antonio Reyes, Deco, Peter Odimwingie, Edin Dzeko, Diego Costa and Andre Ayew as those to have won the award following a transfer to the top flight.
