New loan signings Ervin Zukanovic and Stephan El Shaarawy combined on their debuts to set Roma on their way to a 3-1 home win against Serie A strugglers Frosinone.
Roma took an 18th-minute lead through Radja Nainggolan, who managed to steer the ball home under pressure after being played in by Miralem Pjanic.
Frosinone were able to equalise through striker Daniel Ciofani, but early in the second half El Shaarawy acrobatically back-heeled Zukanovic’s cross into the net to put Roma on top for good.
Pjanic sealed victory for Roma with a neat finish for a late third goal.

Matteo Mancosu’s second-half penalty saw Carpi snatch a 1-1 draw against Palermo at the Stadio Alberto Braglia.
The hosts began brightly but went behind in the 24th minute as Oscar Hiljemark’s pass found Alberto Gilardino free in the Carpi box before slotting home.
The former Italy international reached 184 Serie A goals, equalling Gabriel Batistuta for 13th on the Serie A all-time scoring list.

German Denis ensured Atalanta earned a 1-1 draw against Sassuolo at the Azzurri d’Italia.
Domenico Berardi put the visitors in front but the Argentinian forward equalised after his initial spot-kick was saved by Sassuolo goalkeeper Andrea Consigli.
