Ligue 1 results – Marseille  lose; Nice draw

Rennes 2 – 2 Nice

Saint-Etienne 4 – 0 Lorient

Nantes 3 – 2 Marseille

  • Rennes 2 – 2 Nice

Valentin Eysseric scored in the final 10 minutes as faltering Ligue 1 title contenders Nice came from two goals down to save a point at Rennes.
With Mario Balotelli absent because of illness, Lucien Favre’s side went behind to a chipped finish from former West Ham midfielder Morgan Amalfitano.

Giovanni Sio turned in from close range for Rennes’ second amid offside claims.
Anastasios Donis pulled one back before Eysseric ran clear to slot in the equaliser for Nice, who remain third.

Benjamin Andre almost won it for Rennes with a header from a corner in the final minutes, but Mounir Obaddi cleared it off the line.

Favre’s team, who led the table for much of the first half of the season, have won just two of their last seven Ligue 1 matches, and are five points off the top.

  • Nantes 3 – 2 Marseille

Marseille missed the chance to join St Etienne on 39 points as they lost at Nantes, who moved clear of the relegation places with a 3-2 victory.
First-half goals from Diego Santos Silva and Mariusz Stepinski gave Nantes the half-time lead.

Bafetimbi Gomis pulled one back at the start of the second half but Adrien Thomasson immediately restored the two-goal cushion.

Gomis reduced the deficit again after 61 minutes but Marseille could not rescue a point in the remaining time.

  • Saint-Etienne 4 – 0 Lorient

St Etienne warmed up for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Manchester United with a comprehensive 4-0 home victory over bottom club Lorient.
First-half goals from Loic Perrin and Jordan Veretout and strikes after the break from Romain Hamouma and Jorge Intima — who completed the scoring in stoppage time — saw St Etienne move to within a point of fourth-placed Lyon.
