Manchester City 5 – 1 Huddersfield Town
Manchester City overcame an early scare to defeat Huddersfield Town 5-1 in Wednesday night’s FA Cup fifth-round replay.
The Championship promotion hopefuls took the lead at The Etihad against a strong City side with just seven minutes on the clock, when former City academy player Harry Bunn slotted through the legs of Claudio Bravo from 12 yards.
Leroy Sane though, who had earlier hit the post, cancelled out the Terriers goal on the half-hour mark with a tap in from Raheem Sterling’s cross and eight minutes later the hosts led 3-1.
First Sergio Aguero converted from the spot after Jon Gorenc Stankovic bundled him over and then on 38 minutes Aguero turned provider laying the third on a plate for countryman Pablo Zabaleta.
Aguero then made it 4-1 from another Sterling cross and Kelechi Iheanacho wrapped up the scoring in the final minute to end any hope the Terriers had of making the sixth round.
City’s reward is a quarter-final trip to Premier League rivals Middlesbrough on Saturday, 11 March.
