  • ​James Rodriguez is set to be  announced as a Manchester United player imminently.

  • But, Zinedine Zidane refused to be drawn into discussions over James Rodriguez’s future at Real Madrid, insisting he and the squad are interested only in Wednesday’s crucial La Liga clash with Celta Vigo. 

“James is here, that’s not up for question. He’s with us,” he said. 

“He didn’t train [on Tuesday] because he has a knock, but James is here and we’re thinking just about the three games we have left this year.”

  • Premier League champions Chelsea are also interested in Rodriguez, and Real Madrid want 75m euros (£63.8m) for him.
  • Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will address investors Tuesday ahead of a potential-record summer spending spree.
  • Woodward has sanctioned the Red Devils to trigger Antoine Griezmann’s £85m release clause, along with moves for Tottenham’s Eric Dier, Burnley’s Michael Keane and approaches for either Torino’s Andrea Belotti or Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. In total, such a transfer haul would likely cost the Red Devils well over £200m.

  • Malaga defender Martin Demichelis will retire at the end of the season. The 36-year-old left Manchester City last summer and joined Espanyol, before starting his second spell at Malaga in January.
  • Sporting Lisbon have announced the signing of Mattheus, the son of Brazil World Cup winner Bebeto, from Estoril. Mattheus, who spent two seasons at Estoril after moving over from Brazil side Flamengo, has signed a five-year contract with the 18-time Primeira Liga champions.

  • Arsenal have won the race to sign Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international set to join on a free transfer on July 1.
  • Real Madrid could move to sign Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann if Gareth Bale forces his way out of the club.
