Manchester United confirm Romelu Lukaku’s deal, as striker have medicals ahead of record transfer

Manchester United have confirmed they have agreed a deal with Everton for Romelu Lukaku, with the deal expected to go through later on Saturday.
Romelu Lukaku will undergo his Manchester United medical in Los Angeles.

#MUFC is delighted to announce a fee has been agreed with Everton for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku, subject to a medical & personal terms.

United will pay £75m up-front plus £15m of add-ons and incentives could reportedly see it top £100million. Wayne Rooney will move to Goodison Park in the opposite direction.

Lukaku has been holidaying in LA with prospective Manchester United team-mate Paul Pogba, who has posted a  congratulatory message  to his friend on Instagram and said “see you  tomorrow in training”.

The pair have also been training together at UCLA ahead of United’s pre-season tour of the US, which begins with a friendly against LA Galaxy in the Californian city next Saturday.
Mourinho knows Lukaku from his time in charge at Chelsea and it was the Portuguese coach who sanctioned the striker’s £28m sale to Everton in 2014.

During three seasons at Everton, Lukaku has become one of the Premier League’s most prolific strikers, scoring 71 goals in 133 games.

Everton were desperate to keep their main goal scorer, especially after already spending close to £100m this summer to help Ronald Koeman’s side break into the top four.

However, Lukaku has made no secret of his desire to play in the Champions League.
Lukaku could make his United debut against LA Galaxy at StubHub Center on July 15. He scored 25 Premier League goals last season and was only beaten to the golden boot by Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane.

Chelsea had made a last-ditch attempt to hijack Lukaku’s proposed move to Old Trafford by matching United’s bid on Friday. But Lukaku has decided to join United and the deal should be completed over the weekend.
