Monaco 1-2 PSG
Dani Alves had a dream competitive debut as Paris St Germain beat Monaco 2-1 to win French football’s Trophee des Champions curtain-raiser for the fifth successive year.
Djibril Sidibe had put Monaco ahead when he chipped keeper Alphonse Areola.
But Alves, who signed from Juventus on a free transfer earlier this month, netted a 51st-minute equaliser from a brilliant 35-yard free-kick.
The Brazilian, 34, then set up Adrien Rabiot to head home the winner for the Coupe de France winners.
Monaco pair Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar, both strongly linked with moves away this summer, started for the Ligue 1 champions against the Coupe de France winners in the Moroccan city of Tangier.
Mbappé may still be a Monaco player but the departure of players such as Bernardo Silva, Tiémoué Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Valère Germain has weakened the side.
The sides will next meet in Ligue 1 in Monaco’s Louis-II stadium on November 26.
